Royalties Earnings Vs. Royalty Payouts
First things first, let’s learn some terminology! The distinction between Royalty Earnings and Royalty payouts can be confusing at first, but it is important to understand.
Royalty Earnings: "Royalty Earnings" refer to the total amount of royalties you've accumulated from your audiobook sales. This is the amount that you are owed but may or may not have received yet.
Royalty Payouts: "Royalty Payouts," on the other hand, are the royalties that have already been paid to you. This is the amount of money you've received from your royalty earnings so far.

The Reporting Dashboard
The reporting dashboard is the perfect place to see a summary of your recent sales and royalty payouts. Below you can see a description of each summary stat.
| Metric | Description |
| Total Royalty Earnings | Total amount of royalties earned from all of your titles, for all-time. |
| Royalty Earnings YTD | Total amount of royalties earned from all of your titles for the current year. |
| Royalty Payouts YTD | Total amount of royalties paid to you for the current year. Payouts are processed monthly. |
| Latest Royalty Earnings Month | Summarizes your most recent royalty earnings before payouts. |
| Latest Payout | Displays the most recent royalty payment you've received. |
| Titles in Distribution | Total number of your titles that have been distributed. |
Royalty Earnings Tab
The Royalty Earnings Tab provides a deeper look into your royalty earnings than the main dashboard. This tab is perfect for comparing metrics and accessing downloadable reports that detail your audiobook earnings.
On this tab, you will find two types of royalty earnings reports: the Detailed Royalty Earnings Report and the Summary Royalty Earnings Report.
Detailed Royalty Earnings Report:
The Detailed Report offers precise, granular information on your royalty earnings. Here’s what you can do:
- Filter by Title and Date: Customize your report to focus on specific titles or time periods.
- View Detailed Royalty Earnings Report: View the report you created using your filters.
- Export Detailed Royalty Earnings Report: Download your report for offline access or further analysis.
Each entry in the Detailed Report represents an earnings cycle for each retailer. Because retailer payment schedules vary, you may see monthly entries for some retailers while others appear quarterly.
The detailed view offers the ability to see the ISBN, Title, Distribution Channel, Unit Type, # of Units, Royalty Earnings, Earnings Month, and Payout Month.
Summary Royalty Earnings Report:
The summary report shows all-time royalty earnings by title to give you a quick glance at your earnings. You can filter the report by title and date and download the report by clicking Export Sales Reports.
Earnings Comparison Table
The Earnings Comparison Table enables you to track trends over time and compare earnings by retailer type. Choose the retailer type and date range and click Compare to generate a graph.
Royalty Payouts Tab
The Royalty Payouts Tab keeps a record of all payments that have been issued to you. Each entry represents a monthly payout. You can view basic payout information in the table, and download a more detailed report for each month by clicking the download button in the Export Report column.
Unofficial Royalty Earnings Tab
This new report provides early insight into royalties being reported from distribution channels for their most recent month close.
Our partners report on earnings on individual schedules that may be on a monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly. Once we receive a report they are ingested into our platform and will be displayed in your Unofficial Royalty Earnings report. The earnings month column indicates the month for which the distribution sent their report. Those that report to Author's Republic on a bi-monthly or quarterly basis will have all of the earnings for that period appear in single month.
At the end of the month the Author's Republic team performs our final verification of all earnings and closes our financial month. At this time you will see these royalty earning numbers reported in your Royalty Earnings report and upon payout they will appear in your Royalty Payout reports.
If you do not see earnings in this report from an expected distribution channel it may be due to their reporting schedule or because we have not yet received their latest earnings report, please wait until month close for all earnings to be reported.
Royalty Payouts Tab
The Royalty Payouts tab provides a high level view of your monthly payouts as well as detailed downloadable reports for each month.
Narrator Payment Tab
This new report provides a record for all studio marketplace production charges. Payments are processed for hired narrators once the production has been marked as complete by both parties.
