Accessing Auditions
As an approved Author's Republic narrator, you can access auditions in two ways:
1. The Studio Marketplace
- Login to your Author's Republic account.
- Navigate to the Studio Marketplace using the side navigation panel.
- Explore project details by clicking Learn More on the audiobook project card.
- Click Go To Audition to view audition details and to start working on your audition.
- Continue with the "Submit an Audition" instructions below.
2. Audition invitations
Authors may invite you to audition for their projects. When this happens, you will receive an email and an in-app notification notifying you that an author has invited you to submit an audition.
- Login to your Author's Republic account.
- Navigate to My Auditions via the side navigation panel.
- Click View Details on the Audiobook Project Card.
- If you wish to decline the audition for any reason, follow the steps outlined here.
- Click Go To Audition to view audition details and to start working on your audition.
- Continue with the "Submit an Audition" instructions below.
Submit an Audition
Under the Audition Details page, you'll see additional information about the audition, including the manuscript's estimated word count and a pronunciation guide if the author has included it.
From the Audition Details page, you're able to:
- Download the manuscript.
- Access the audition script suggested by the author.
- Click View Book Details to bring up the audiobook project details.
- Message the author in the Messages window.
- Note: The messages window will only be available if the author has invited you to audition or you have already submitted an audition.
- Upload your Audition Track and fill out the required fields.
- Submit your completed audition by clicking Submit Audition.
- Edit your previously submitted audition by clicking Update Audition.

If the author has chosen a section of their manuscript for the audition it will appear in this field. Note: If the author has not completed this section, download the manuscript using the "Download Full Manuscript" button and choose a selection of the script to perform for your audition. |
| Audition File | Select Upload File to open a dialogue box, and select your MP3 audition file from your computer to upload. |
| Per Finished Hour Rate (USD) |
This field will be pre-filled with the per-finished hour (PFH) rate listed within your narrator profile. Note: You may edit this field to change the PFH rate for this project. Editing this field will not change your PFH in your narrator profile. |
| Est. Audiobook Duration (hours) |
Estimate the final length (in hours) of this audiobook based on your assessment of the manuscript, the word count (if the author has provided that information in the audition details tab), and your personal rate of narration. The average narrator reads at about 9,300 words per hour. Word Count / 9300 = Estimated Audiobook Length (in hours) |
| Total Bid (USD) | This field will be automatically calculated using the Per Finished Hour Rate and Est. Audiobook Duration fields. This will be calculated using the following formula: Estimated Audiobook Length (in hours) x PFH Rate = Total Bid |
| I agree to the Rights Holder and Narrator agreement | Review the Rights Holder and Narrator agreement and check off the checkbox. |
| Submit Audition Button | Click the Submit Audition button once all fields have been filled out. |
Once your audition has been submitted, the author will receive an email and in-app notification letting them know they have a new audition to review.
Edit an Audition
If for any reason you need to edit your audition once it has been submitted, you may do so by clicking the Update Audition button in the bottom right corner of the Audition Details Page.
- Once logged in, navigate to the My Auditions tab using the side navigation panel.
- Click View Details > Go to Audition for the project you would like to edit.
- Make any necessary edits and click Re-submit Audition.
