Which tax form will I receive at tax time?
On an annual basis, we will send you either a 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC or 1042-S tax form if you’ve been paid at least $10 in royalties/narration fees over the tax year. The 1099 forms are only applicable for Direct Deposit (ACH payments). These forms are sent out via mail, so it's very important that the mailing address on your submitted tax form is accurate and up to date. If you don't receive your tax form in the mail, let us know and we will be able to send the form to you digitally with your consent.
-

- 1099-K: Issued by PayPal for US citizens and companies paid through PayPal
-
1042-S: Non US citizens and companies
- Sent out via e-delivery or mail on or before March 15th detailing royalties earned for the prior tax year.
What is Tax1099.com?
Tax1099.com is the tax form preparation service that we use. As per the IRS regulations, consent must be given to Author's Republic in order to receive your tax form via e-delivery. You will receive an email from Tax1099 asking for your consent. Once you have provided it, you will be sent your applicable tax form via the Tax1099 portal.
Why don’t the royalties on my sales dashboard match my tax form?
The amount displayed on your tax form is your gross income for the tax year. This is the total revenue received over the course of the tax year before any deductions for transaction fees are made. The sales dashboard reflects royalties earned within the sales range selected. The amount differs as royalties are typically paid the following month they are earned.
Example: Royalties earned for the month of December would be paid at the end of the following January.
